Berretta Racing was formed in 1992 by twin brothers Angelo and Joe Berretta, with Angelo as crew chief and Joseph as driver. They began racing at Evergreen Speedway in Saint John's, Pa in the Stockcar Thriller. Two years later they changed their racing class to Late Model Stockcars at Tioga Speedway in Owego, New York. This change proved well for the brothers as Joseph was awarded "Rookie of the Year".
For the past 20 years racing has been good to the Berretta team, with Joe winning multiple heats and feature races. The most memorable of these races being Joe's 2004 Mid-Season Gold Cup Championship win at Tioga Motorsports Park.
